Private Messaging

While browsing the site, sometimes people want to comment on another member's contribution, but would prefer to keep it one-to-one. Rather than posting a message on the discussion board, or typing into the main chatroom, members can send private messages to one another that appear on the recipient's page, wherever they are on the site.

Even better, if the person isn't online, the Sharedbase system will send the message to the intended recipient by email, to make sure that your words get through.

At any time, a member can use the link at the top of the page to view all messages, just the messages from a certain person or on a certain day and to send new messages. To send a message, all you need is the member's username. Email addresses are kept private.

Old messages can be removed from view, especially useful for administrators with a lot of system messages.
